We are back in business after a month reserved for moving and getting set up at a new residence.

Reviewing the month’s worth of articles from which to select, one is struck by the fact the little has really changed. Our country is wallowing in an unbelievable morass caused by failed leadership, abject “followership,” and a situation in which nearly half of the population appears to be either incredibly stupid or simply doesn’t care. Very difficult to say that, but it has to be said.

I call your attention to Ari Berman’s article “The Strategic Class” in the Commentary Section of this issue. The article should be read more than once so that the names of the key people sink into memory to be recalled come election time. These folks appear to be essentially right-wing “Republican-Democrats” who, for the most part, think that they can “outBush” George Bush, meaning that they would have done what he did vis-à-vis Iraq but would have done it right. Killing American troops and Iraqi civilians doesn’t enter into their thoughts. 100,000 dead Iraqi civilians might raise some people’s eyebrows, but not this group. They can do it better.

No wonder. One of their prime movers is Madeleine Albright, my least favorite person ever who wormed her way into my heart of hearts with her statement that it was a hard decision but the UN sanction on Iraq that cost the lives of over 500,000 children was worth it. That’s 500,000. No mistake. Any group that has Mad Madeleine as a member can’t be all good.

And, as for Hillary, she’s so busy campaigning for President that what comes out is a woman who wants to be all things to everyone. Sort of like Bill. And they called Kerry “wishy-washy.”

Sadly, there are very few worthwhile Democrats in office. I call Senators and Representatives who want peace, who question Congress’s unqualified 100% support of Israel, who don’t thrive on killing innocents and who speak up about it- “worthwhile.” How many can you name that are worthwhile?

Well, I’m waiting . . . .

Man, are we in trouble.
