2005-11-30 Editorial Peace in Our Time for Our Children With this issue, we introduce another new writer for Fiatlux ... John S. Hatch. John’s bio is listed in his section of Participating Authors. I think you’ll have no difficulty understanding John’s points of view. As a Canadian, John presents us with a picture of how we are seen abroad. From my reading of the worldwide press, I don’t think John’s views are at all unique or unrepresentative of our image in the world in general. It’s just that John has an uncanny ability to home in on the nasty details and get there so directly that it can make a sensitive patriot hurt. I reiterate here that along with bringing you writers who have interesting and challenging viewpoints, the purpose of this site is also to present what I feel are writers who demonstrate the art of expository writing. There are as many styles as there are writers on Fiatlux... some very polished and some not so polished. But they all get their points across so that almost every reader can understand what they are saying. That’s what this particular website is all about. Some articles may strike very close to home for some readers. They challenge you to be open-minded, to reconsider some of your own points of view and to face some unpleasant realities. The extent to which you are so challenged and made uncomfortable and the manner in which you face up to the discomfort and challenges will determine, ultimately, when, or perhaps even “if,” this country will rise out of its dismal present and at least begin to show a semblance of concern about the dishonesty, immorality, cruelty and just plain barbarianism of the present government. We are the government in the final analysis. We have no one to blame for the present mess but ourselves. Many of us are extremely unperceptive. We don’t read enough and when we do read it’s only the pap that’s fed to us by American media that has for the most part failed us miserably. The purpose of this website is to get information for you that the American press will not handle. Our photos of American and Iraqi casualties are a case in point. If every American was forced to look at horribly maimed human beings, whether “ours” or “theirs,” all but the most insensitive people would be able to see that in death and injury we are all the same. Find an unclothed, severed arm or leg nearby and you can’t tell whether it’s American or Iraqi. We bleed alike, burn alike, laugh alike, cry alike. As human beings in the rat-race called life, we, at the very least, are entitled to live lives free from the constant harassment of the pitiful likes of incompetents such as the George Bushes, Tony Blairs, and their inhuman henchmen who are in power solely because of our own inadequacies, our own lacks of perception, our own inabilities to distinguish the good from the bad. It’s time we shape up or we’re in for a very long, unpleasant time of wallowing in George Bush’s sh-t .. And that means our kids and grand kids will be the ones who’ll bear the brunt of all of the misery that is being handed out. Think hard and think deep. Read the latest by Doris Colmes, Bill Quigley, John Hatch and the rest of our Participating Authors and spread the word to your friends who are out of touch with reality and urge them read Fiatlux and other websites that present the world as it sees us . . . and them. Peace in our time .. . for our children.
